Delighted that Creative Scotland (the arts council) have awarded my collaborator, Sound Artist, Sonja Heyer, and myself a grant to create another poetry/sound aural work, which will be site-specific around the Ring of Brodgar and the nearby RSPB Brodgr nature reserve. Recordings of my poetry to Sonja's natural sound recordings will be designed to be listened to through tiny loudspeakers within transparent umbrellas on a self-directed walk.
This follows on from our previous collaboration, 'Berlin Umbrella' the poetry/sound aural walk which launched in Berlin back in 2018 and which also appeared at StAnza in 2020.
So we're off mid-July for a week, packing walking boots, binoculars and unfortunately Deet anti-midge spray - though as midges don't like open spaces and wind, we may be safe.
We've already had interest from our previous producer in Berlin and several other festivals... watch this space.
